General Information
Porthaven is a fictional town on the East Coast of United States. The name of the state the city belongs to is known, but never explicitly mentioned. When needed, it is refereed to simply as The State. Porthaven is considered to be within driving distance of New York City, but not close enough to make a for a round trip in a single night.
Porthaven is not based on any existing city, and any similarities to real world cities is purely accidental. Porthaven is significantly larger and more populous than any real world city in Northeastern US, and is able to support a rather large population of Kindred.
Outside the city limits there nothing but swamps, forests, mountains and open highways for miles on each side. The next closest town is Quiet Hill, located 3 hours north of the city.
Allegiance and Governance
Porthaven is a Camarilla city ruled by The Prince and The Court.
City Districts
The city is divided into five districts aptly named, East Side, West Side, North End, South End and the Harbor District. Those are the officially recognized districts. Unofficially, several of the larger districts are further subdivided into smaller units.
- East Side - the financial district
- Harbor District - docks and wearhouses
- North End - lower class neighborhood
- Upper North End - the outskirts, fish market, trailer park
- Lower North End - working class neighborhood
- Midtown - seedy part of town, The Rack
- South End - upper class neighborhood
- West Side - the rest of the city
- Upper West Side - university, hipsters, gentrification
- Lower West Side - airport, sports stadium, the mall
- West End - cemeteries and fog
